Pentarq came into being on the 1st May 2000 with the incorporation of the
firm of Stockan, Sloan & Sinclair Macdonald Limited. The more manageable
trading name is based on the
Pentland Firth, across which we do business, and our core disciplines of Architecture
and Quantity Surveying.
Sinclair Macdonald started his Architectural practice in Thurso in 1875 and enjoyed a continuous history of practice mainly in Caithness, Sutherland and Orkney.
Stockan and Sloan, Chartered Quantity Surveyors, was founded in 1980 by Ian Sloan and John Stockan. They undertook a variety of commissions throughout Orkney, Shetland, Caithness and Sutherland frequently working closely with Sinclair Macdonald & Son.
In 1995 the firms merged as Stockan, Sloan & Sinclair Macdonald thus bringing together the two practices to provide a comprehensive building design and surveying service.
Pentarq are alert to current industry trends, environmentally conscious, innovative and sensitive in design whilst still maintaining a firm hold on traditional values. The company is committed to seeking continual improvement in all areas of its working practices and all personnel have a direct influence on the quality of service provided.
